What is involved in building a home with a fireplace in an existing home?
I have lots of questions about this. I have a I'd like to install corner fireplace with mantle and stone fireplace. I'm very practical and time are what the requirements would be at the code and detailed instructions can do it. I have a lot of stone of a building on the farm which was demolished for nostalgic reasons I like to use. I would like the mantle of being a piece carved by hand. How big or small the size of the chimney .. What is the trick to building a chimney with good draw. Does anyone recommend any DIY kits? Are there are brick masonry prelined? or be totally independent? Looking ahead to everyone's ideas?
If you DIY, metal chimney and fireplace is the way forward. Stone cladding can be added as surround sound, the imitation brick interior available. Places like Menards sell everything. A real stone fireplace requires a base on the ground to support the weight.
