I have dark walls, but above the fireplace is brick, with much stained white plaster everywhere. It is too white and light. How is a little darker, without destroying the bricks. I do not paint, just paint. I'm pretty Make sure you need oil painting, but I do not know what color, how do I do that?

You can purchase grout stain on the material. (Like those used in factories). It comes in several colors. You can also apply a sealant to seal any color (and change the general appearance). You may also want to check the concrete stain. I wish I had a conversation with someone knowledgeable in your local hardware store.
